We Serve

Braveminds Academy is a residential treatment center located in Largo, Florida, serving adolescent boys ages 11 to 17 who need structured, 24/7 mental health or substance use treatment. Families do not need to live nearby to access the program. Braveminds Academy accepts families from across the Tampa Bay area, throughout Florida, and from other states.

Our residential program runs 30 to 90 days and is designed for boys whose needs go beyond what outpatient care can address. Whether a family is in Pinellas County or across the country, the admissions process is the same: a confidential consultation, a clinical assessment, and a clear plan for getting their son the level of care he needs.

Braveminds Academy Serves Tampa Bay, All of Florida, and Families Nationwide

Braveminds Academy’s location in Largo places it at the center of the Tampa Bay region, making it accessible to families throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Manatee counties. The program also serves families from across Florida and from other states who are looking for a residential level of care for their son.

Geography is not a barrier to admission. Families who travel for treatment receive the same clinical support, family involvement, and admissions coordination as those who live nearby.

Serving Families Throughout Florida

Families do not need to live in Largo or Pinellas County to enroll their son at Braveminds Academy. Residential treatment is designed for boys who need a higher level of care than what is available locally, and many families travel within Florida to access it.

Boys from Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Tallahassee, and other Florida cities have been admitted to the program. Our admissions team works with families regardless of where they are located in the state to coordinate the intake process, verify insurance benefits, and prepare for the first day of treatment.

Serving Families Nationwide

Braveminds Academy accepts families from outside Florida. Residential treatment is one of the few levels of care where traveling for placement is both practical and common, particularly when a family’s local options have not produced results.

For families traveling from out of state, the admissions team provides guidance on logistics, including transportation assistance. Family therapy and family involvement remain a core part of the program regardless of distance. Families who cannot visit in person regularly can participate in scheduled family sessions and maintain communication with the clinical team throughout their son’s stay.

Residential Mental Health Treatment for Teen Boys

Braveminds Academy provides residential mental health treatment exclusively for adolescent boys ages 11 to 17. Our program is appropriate for boys who are experiencing serious mental health or behavioral challenges, have not made progress in outpatient settings, or require 24/7 supervision and psychiatric stabilization.

We are accredited by The Joint Commission, which sets national standards for quality and safety in behavioral health care. This accreditation reflects Braveminds Academy’s commitment to clinical excellence, privacy, and family involvement throughout the treatment process.

The program includes a range of clinical, academic, and life-skills services delivered by a multidisciplinary team of licensed clinicians, behavioral health professionals, and educators. Services include:

  • Individual therapy, offered multiple times per week
  • Group therapy and family therapy
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
  • Academic support to keep boys on track with their education
  • Life skills development
  • Recreational and experiential therapy

Clinical approaches used at Braveminds Academy include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), somatic therapy, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and trauma-informed care, among others.

Braveminds Academy treats adolescent boys whose mental health or behavioral challenges have become too complex or severe to manage with weekly therapy or outpatient care alone. Conditions we treat include:

Every boy begins with a confidential clinical assessment to determine whether residential care is the right level of support. From there, our team builds an individualized treatment plan that addresses both his symptoms and the underlying causes.
